Personally upon leaving the W.T I would answer, being a decent husband, father to my son, not doing too much harm in the world, and finding inner contentment is purpose enough in life for me. I would however suggest that to believe we can express in words what life's "purpose" is, is to assume that we can put into words, or some, formula, the entire nature of the cosmos.

What is the purpose of life?
by slimboyfat inwhile reading the magazines the other day it occurred to me that jws never really had a very good answer to that question.
because it was aimed at young people and it said something along the lines, "if you believe in god you have a purpose, but if you don't believe in god your life has no purpose or meaning".
i think that is a faulty analysis of the situation.

going back before my grandparents I know nothing about generation after generation of ancestors, except presumably they lived and died. Anyway we too will dissolve and one day leave nothing behind, not even a trace of the posts we made here will remain. So keep posting its maybe not so much asking the question " what is the purpose in life? that is important, but " having a purpose in life that's important"

Vivianne, I think your posts are always more good than harmful, and I like the fact that you never play cat and mouse before you blow a poster in to a jigsaw puzzle. Yes thankfully we have Viv and her logical answers. Viviane a poster who makes this the real home for people joining an " Ex-Jehovers Witness Discussion forum". However i think we need an added feature where you could take texts and tweets. Now that would be something.
Ummmmm and what does Ummmmm mean?

RIP dad, who introduced me to this fairytail of everlastin life and paradise :(
by Frezia inless than 5 hours ago my great dad fell asleep the last time :( still in a bit of a shock and sad that i will not see him again...i promised myself that once he is here no more, i will somehow make my move out of this organisation who kept us all captive believing in a fantasy of an everlasting life :( i am in a tricky situation, since raised as jw, still in, married to an active jw, and pretty sure that all in my social and family circle will turn their backs on me if i finally say goodbye to a fairytail ;(.

Frezia, I think of you, how difficult it must have been to write about your dads deaths only five hours after his passing. I am pleased for you that so many who you have never met have given thoughtful messages acknowledging the emotions behind your O.P and your dads passing. This shows that in your post " all in your social network havnt turned there back on you." I also hope you seek friends from work, or find worldly people who will listen to your emotions...I just want to highlight such people are not in the minority, seek them out find them. The loosing a parent takes a long time, even a year to get over whatever the relationship in life was.

mrquik " As I always say: LIVE WELL...ENJOY LIFE! " and may I add Spocks immortal words " LIVE LONG AND PROSPER"
I am glad you found a wonderful woman, but remember nice people attract and your new wife found a wonderful husband. As for anti witnessing, witnesses are like women, they are everywhere but very few are we compatible with. And when we are married those other women we talk with, are just small talk anyway. So to translate I am not dedicated to anti-witnessing unless they have nice legs :-)
O.K before the dislike button is pushed " the nice legs" mean they are not superficial witnesses, umm I am putting myself more in it, but thats because the 18 year old teenager is still in me....and that's what teenagers say sometimes, silly things on a discussion forum, but it's only part of growing up.

JW women true value
by Chook inwhen they sent out internal letter to elders regarding the binding of elders book , worldly men could do the job but only under supervision of a elder.
but under no circumstance could a sister touch the book.
the idiots put it in print, any elders wives on this forum should take it up with their man.

Chock "..any elders wife on the forum should take it up with their man"
Re elders wife's, just my observation but it was ovbious to me that many elders shared their "sensitive elder secrets" with the wife. I also think many of those elders wife's were satisfied with this perceived privalige. Are any elders wife's on the forum able to confirm my sneaky observations :-)

Smiddy, your answer was I believe a very similar answer to my last post. However I stopped short of saying " stop trying to find a meaning for it" as I thought of Coftys O.P " The origin of life". From that O.P I realized personally I am not interested in the " origin of life" as I think I would dedicate too much time searching for the answer, and the " purpose of my life" simply doesn't allow that time. However I appreciate for others the "purpose of life" is trying to find answers to such questions.
Can you imagine all the wonderful art that would not exist if the artists purpose in life was to " find the purpose in life" or be social with friends and take his wife out 3 times a week. The artist creates because he/she does not allow such distractions to stop them creating. The artist is an artist and that is the artists purpose in life.
my answer " I am the purpose of my life"

Well since last week I have stopped eating meat, because, well I learnt with more detailed descriptions how many of the animals I ate were slaughtered.
Perhaps all forms of physical existence require a degree of violence?

Ruby456 " The most inquisitive group amoungst jws going on line are young people-teens ..."
What a captivating thought, for in my case as a teenager I thought I new it all, or at least more than most. Instead I was just a young lad, who would have made a lot of mistakes if I had awoken to the truth as a teenager.
I think for a teenager maybe the best way to go about leaving is to do the boring things like playing snooker, having a coffee with friends from work, and thus gain a new social network . Getting on the moral high horse, and loosing your family and "friends" by telling everybody it's a cult is not the way. That's why I would advise come here for support first, and maybe be an armchair reader on more controversial subjects, then when you feel you really have the stuff to support your arguments test the water. However debating is a skill that takes time to learn and therefore it's so no shame to walk away from a discussion and question how you can better defend your viewpoint next time.
Just my opinion.
